High Power Laser Diode Characterization

Sample plots from high-power laser diode characterization system. It was built for testing bar type lasers (shown in picture). The test system was designed for acquiring data at stable temperature for repeatability. The setups could be operated in a fully automatic mode with minimal input from the operator. Different test systems were capable of testing diodes in CW and QCW mode. CW test system could go up to 100Amps and QCW systems could go up 150Amps (20% Duty cycle). CW test system was also capable of acquiring Thermal Impedance data. Both CW & QCW projects involved complete electronic assembly, equipment selection, computer interfacing and a fully automated test software. Additionally for QCW test setup an interface for Avtech. Pulser was designed and fabricated. Buffer amplifiers were also designed and built to isolate high power pulse subsystem from measurements systems.
